Introduction

  About me

Hi, my name is Kobe Miles Padilla born in Philippines and half Singaporean. I am a bit shy and introverted but once I get to know people, I get close and make friends with them. I love Korean dishes such as bibimbap and soon tofu (soup). One of my favorite places to go to is the beach, sand on your feet with the water splashing and the wind breezed through your skin. I think taking this class will help me become more educated in the media, how the media works, and maybe learn how to make videos and take shots for when I need to do it on my own.

Shots and Angles

Forms of angles and shots

                High Angle
An angle where the camera looks
down at a subject from above

Full shot
A shot of a person from head to toe
and can be used to make statements
about a subjects physicality and
present a character in
all their glory

            Ground level shot
Where the camera is placed all the way down
the ground, sometimes can be low angle.
Shooting from ground level can be a stylish
way to track a character movement
or to capture details within the settings
Wide shot
Positions the camera subjects far from camera
to visually represent their relationship to their
environment

                Shoulder shot
The lower position gives the illusion of a
low angle shot without its heavier
                   connotation

                                                  Medium Full Shot
arranged from the top of the subjects head
to just be low their waist

                    Low angle
Use to typically make a subject look more
                   powerful.
     Establishing shot
It is typically wide enough to establish
the geography, time of day and show the scale of subjects
in relation to their environment

                                 Dutch angle
A shot that skews the horizontal axis of the frame
for an off-kilter image that produces a variety of effects.

                                                                                                     Medium Close up
A shot where the subject frames from mid chest                                                                                             from just above their head. A shot where
It prioritizes story and character detail

Commentary on My Classmate Blogs

Blog Commentary

Classmates Blog Commentary On the angles and shots, I commented on Jamil and Jannelle’s post. To start with we can look at Jamil’s shots/angle shots like the long shot where Janelle is surrounded by books and the setting gives a sense of peacefulness and she seems to be in her comfort zone. Jamil’s wide shot had a humor and unserious mood which the action of two students gave when they seemed to be goofing off in a library. And thirdly the mid angle shot of Carl where he seems upset and sad which shows in his body language.

Next is Janelle shots and angle. Over the shoulder shot where Carl and Jamil seem to be discussing important business as can be seen in their hands gesture. Next is the two shots of Carl and Jamil where Carl is trying to have a conversation with Jamil, but Jamil seems not to be taking Carl seriously as seen in his face showing their playful relationship. Lastly is the mid shot of Carl breaking the fourth wall where he acknowledges the audience. Many of the shots and angles that were taken were humorous and amusing, it helps me by giving me a better sense of how these shots/angles should be used.

Next time that I do activities like this I can use the example my classmates showed and what they can bring whether that can be a negative emotion, positive emotions, suspense or foolishness.
